This week’s Retail Therapy challenge is based on a film that children of the 80s will recall fondly. Gremlins! Billy has a new pet. His pet’s name is Gizmo. Gizmo is a-dor-a-ble. But Gizmo is a high maintenance critter. No food after midnight, no water, no brights lights. Three simple rules Billy was supposed to follow. Billy screwed up. Billy let Gizmo get wet. Chaos ensues. And the Gremlins multiply. We’ve all had a Gremlins moment, haven’t we? One bad thing that leads to another and another and before you know it, you’re in over your head. Way over! Retail Therapy to the rescue!

I’m looking for some Retail therapy prescriptions that might help Billy out. What can he buy to help him deal with all the Gremlins OR to get a little relief himself. Just remember it was a single Gizmo that got him into this mess!

This week’s prize will appeal to parents and grandparents. We’re giving away TWO Name Your Tune CD’s that will allow you to create a volume of personalized music for the special kid in your life. Or special Gremlin. They do like to sing! Submit your comment/suggestion, along with a link to a specific Retail Therapy recommendation (item) in the comments below. One winner will be chosen next Friday at 3pm PST.

Note: this post is sticky, which means it will stay at the top till the contest ends next Friday. See below for fresh retail therapy prescriptions!

It’s not easy being a human. First there is the matter of learning to walk. Then finding clothes… The stress of not being able to swim alone! But it’s especially trying for “Madison” who finds herself naked and finless in the city in the classic film “Splash”.

Madison is scared. She’s alone (save for a young hunky Tom Hanks who seems a little obsessed with fruit if you ask me). She doesn’t have any suitable clothes. She needs…. to go shopping. Stat!

I’m sure you all have bigger fish to fry, but please take a moment to tell us (links please!) what retail therapy exactly you would prescribe for Madison. Winner gets a $25 gift gard to Macy’s, which he/she may use on the retail therapy of their choice.
