Retail Therapy Challenge: Splash!

by Ciaran/Momfluential on March 27, 2009

Note: this post is sticky, which means it will stay at the top till the contest ends next Friday. See below for fresh retail therapy prescriptions!

It’s not easy being a human. First there is the matter of learning to walk. Then finding clothes… The stress of not being able to swim alone! But it’s especially trying for “Madison” who finds herself naked and finless in the city in the classic film “Splash”.

Madison is scared. She’s alone (save for a young hunky Tom Hanks who seems a little obsessed with fruit if you ask me). She doesn’t have any suitable clothes. She needs…. to go shopping. Stat!

I’m sure you all have bigger fish to fry, but please take a moment to tell us (links please!) what retail therapy exactly you would prescribe for Madison. Winner gets a $25 gift gard to Macy’s, which he/she may use on the retail therapy of their choice.

Japanese Pill Towels

Stores easily in the smallest of purses and perfect drying off after the the unexpected rain showers when the Senz Mini Umbrella (available here: http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/travel-outdoors/ab6e/) fails to keep all the water off!

I’m loving this flirty, floral frock from good ol’ Ann Taylor Loft for her to flounce around NY in when she is finless. It will go great with her golden locks as she screeches to hail a cab while she continues on to her next shopping excursion. And if it’s one of those nippy New York nights, she can throw on this super cute cardigan also from ATL. http://www.anntaylorloft.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=17027&N=1200259&categoryId=2099&Ns=CATEGORY_SEQ_2099&defaultColorNameFromCategory=Black&defaultSizeTypeFromCategory=Misses#ATLtop

For her big night out in the city:

It honors her past while embracing her present.

Learning to walk will not only be easier but more fashionable in these “sensible” shoes.
Who says you can’t be nostalgic while starting anew?

With those new gams, she might be missing those pretty fins. For those times she’s feeling nostalgic, she needs these:

For when she decides to take the “plunge” she’ll want a dress that represents her heritage:)

She’s gonna need bottoms: skirts, pants, etc. How about these?

Well my therapy is a little different-I was thinking going to a spa for a seaweed wrap as a reminder of home and get legs waxed-so she doesn’t have to worry about shaving those great gams for a while!!

dream on 03.30.09 at 2:53 pm

she’s gonna’ need something to slip into!!

Katie 03.30.09 at 7:59 pm

She needs to go to Old Navy! She can get tons of cheap, comfy clothes. She probably prefers 80’s style but they’ve got a little of that going on too.

Aura 03.31.09 at 2:28 pm

I think the Emerald Mermaid Long Dresses by Gigi http://www.edressme.com/14306.html would look great and be a nice dressy reminder of her mermaid days

Linda 04.01.09 at 2:39 pm

Resa 04.02.09 at 11:09 am

A great robe. For when she gets out of the tub, and the tank, and all those other wet (and naked) places she finds herself.

This one looks light and comfy year round… maybe she would love it more than her tail?
